2008-2009 Auditions

Desert Foothills Theater is pleased to be working with three extremely talented directors this year in the creation of three wonderful productions. It is the year of the woman for DFT as E.E. Moe, Petey Swartz and Dee Dee Wood all work to bring some great shows to the stage.  In early discussions with these directors, it was decided that general auditions were not something they wanted to hold this year. Therefore, auditions will be held closer to each event rehearsal start date.  Approximate audition dates are listed below. Actual audition dates will be set after July 14. Joining our artist email list is the best way to ensure you are among the first to know about DFT auditions. 

Romantic Comedy directed by E. E. Moe -- auditions will be held in early August 2008
Last of the Red Hot Lovers directed by Petey Swartz -- auditions will be held in November 2008
The World Goes 'Round directed by Dee Dee Wood -- auditions in January 2009

Foothills Follies

Tell us your talent!  Plan to be a part of the fun!  Sign up now to audition for one of the 25 acts to be presented at the DFT Community Event quickly becoming a new tradition.  Dates for the 2009 Foothills Follies will be set by mid July.

Do you play an instrument?  Juggle?  Twirl a baton?  Dance?  Sing?  Play with a band? Do stand-up comedy?  Yodel?  Play the spoons?

Prepare a 3 minute act  - solo or group.  You will audition in mid-February 2009. There will be two or three rehearsals for the selected acts prior to the performance.

2009-2010 Directors Needed

Are you an experienced director looking for an opportunity to direct for DFT? We'd love to hear from you.  We are currently soliciting play suggestions from interested directors. We want to hear from YOU as to what show you have been dying to direct.  We are looking for:

• a mixed-ages show (youth and adult),
• a book musical and/or a musical revue
• a comedy or drama.
  
  We also have opportunities for directors who want to build their portfolio to direct theatricales for us (these are small, in-home, one-night theatrical "events").  In the past they have included an evening of Shakespeare love sonnets interspersed with performances of related music, an evening of Broadway show tunes performed concert style, and dinner theater shows.  We are looking for creativity, ingenuity and something that works well in an intimate setting (like a private home) or another unique setting.

In addition, we have a very small (50-seat) black box and are looking for potential productions for that space that might have a longer run.

We have three performance spaces:

Large proscenium theater -- seats 430
Large black box theater in same facility as proscenium -- seats 150
Small black box theater in building next to main facility -- seats 50

We also offer our theatricales in either private homes or restaurant settings.  These could also be offered in unique settings if appropriate to the work...

If you are interested in directing:

• Send a cover letter describing the work you would like to create for DFT specifying your theater preference for production and/or alternative location ideas, and play/musical publisher.
• Send your resume outlining all past productions
• Send any DVDs (with self-addressed, stamped envelope) you may have of productions you have directed.
• Send a list of any upcoming productions you are directing that we may be able to see.
• Include your date preference for directing and/or any hard conflicts

We will be reviewing submissions in the early winter and will announce our season in mid spring. Due to our performance space belonging to the school district, we cannot confirm production dates until late spring.
